Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an innovative and experienced registered nurse to join our lung cancer specialist nurse team at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust. The post holder will be based at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, but will be required to work at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital to support colleagues on an occasional basis.

You will be responsible for the ongoing development and management of the Lung cancer support nurse post. You will support the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist to ensure high quality services are provided to all patients. The post holder needs to work autonomously and will lead on own portfolio of work but also be a key member of the lung cancer nursing team.

Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). You will liaise with other healthcare professionals including the Primary Health Care team to provide the best possible continuity of care for patients, the post holder would maintain and develop links with patients and clinical nurse specialists of the referring teams at local Trusts.

Assist to provide a comprehensive service for all aspects of Lung Cancer care under the direction of the CNS in Lung Cancer, have a role in the development of the SaTH's lung Cancer nursing service in line with the NHS Long term plan and NICE Guidelines for Lung cancer

This is an exciting opportunity to join the lung cancer nursing service and includes supporting people along the whole pathway including pre-diagnosis to living with and beyond cancer or transition to end of life care. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for developing cancer services. The post holder will have a wealth of experience working with people affected by cancer and a good understanding of both local and national lung cancer guidelines and pathways.
