Job summary

The Network Engineer role is a technical position. The role requires an extensive specialist knowledge of network technologies, specifically HP, firewall technologies, Wi-Fi. The effective management of these systems is key to the operation of the IT infrastructure. Disruption to this infrastructure has a serious negative impact on the business of the Trust.

The post holder, alongside the other members of the network team, will be required to investigate complex IT issues, be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the network environment, to include coordinating any installs, equipment testing, moves, changes and adaptations repairs, and decommissioning of physical assets.

The post holder will also be responsible to the Infrastructure Manager for the efficient and effective support of Information Technology and computerised systems and services throughout the Trust, to support first class patient care.

The role is full-time with a requirement to work on site and have the ability to move between sites when required.

Main duties of the job

Beresponsible for analysing hardware and/or application problems.

Be responsible for allocating problems within the team to meet the service levels of the team.

Identify, analyse, and resolve a range of problems

Interpret technical or procedure manuals on behalf of non-technical users and provide routine training

Deploy security patches in-line with national guidance to ensure that Infrastructure devices

Deploy version upgrades to ensure the security of all Network devices

Ensure that the IT asset database record is kept up to date and the IT asset database is checked for accuracy

Analyse complex facts / situations, technical incidents which require analysis, interpretation and comparison and putting forward a range of options or resolution

Interpret information performing comparisons on factual data or trend analysis and report on that information

Investigate and resolve complex technical issues.

Review complex security logs for all network and endpoint security technologies

Monitor capacity and pro-actively resolve before they become service impacting

Support and troubleshoot to identify, assess, record, resolve and / or escalate incidents and service requests ensuring they are handled within an agreed service level agreement

To have knowledge of one or more systems, hardware and procedures

Use judgement involving facts, where some may require analysis

We are a team of 10 currently and cover both the Infrastructure and Network requirements for the Trust. We are a tight knit group who work really well together and we are looking for individuals to join us. We are busy with daily tasks and new projects and always looking out for improvements that can be made.
