Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Health Care Assistant to work on our 12 bedded Gynaecology inpatient ward and Gynaecology Assessment and Triage Unit (GATU) , you will be working within women's health with a dynamic and friendly team.
The ward is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. GATU is open Monday to Saturday 0700hrs - 1930hours.
The successful candidate will be fully supported with an induction, and training needs assessment.
The successful applicant will be closely involved in supporting the patients and their families to help them get holistic care and support them through their journey of care.
Main duties of the job
Provide or assist patients with personal care/hygiene including occasional direct exposure to bodily fluids etc.
Toileting, including emptying urinary catheter bags
After appropriate training undertake clinical activities as delegated by nursing and medical staff reporting any abnormalities,
Observations of temperature, pulse, blood pressure & weight.
ECG recordings
Simple dressings and removal of cannula.
Phlebotomy, cannulation and BM blood samples.
Assist patient's preparation prior to clinical procedures and during.
Undertake patient and other manual handling tasks using the correct equipment and techniques following specific training.
Contribute fully to ensure the unit and the kitchen are kept clean and all items and equipment are stored, cleaned and used correctly
