Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy and dynamic nursing team on the Trauma and Orthopaedic Ward. This is a demanding role that requires commitment and a positive approach towards change.
The successful candidate must have a proven ability in supervising, managing and controlling the activities of the unit in an effective and efficient manner.
You will be a clinical role model and must have a willingness to contribute to the development of the team as well as your own professional growth.
You will have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike.
Main duties of the job
Band 6 duties include, coordination of ward activities, driving quality of care and having oversight of trust drivers, supporting staff to carry out training, being a role model for junior staff, supporting staff with off duty queries, responding to Datex, responding to complaints, being a senior nursing resource - learning how to decision make, understanding escalation pathways, enhancing communication skills.

Professional /technical Qualif
Essential
- RGN, Paediatric specialties RSCN , Operating Theatres RGN or Registered ODP.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional development/ qualification relevant to area of speciality
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
- Extensive post registration with recent experience in the relevant speciality or equivalent
- High level clinical skills and knowledge.
- Evidence of successfully co-ordinating, managing and leading the team on a day to day basis.
Desirable
- Involvement in Nursing audit and Research.
- Experience in undertaking preceptor/mentor role.
