Supported by the West Midlands Neonatal Delivery Network, The Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust (SaTH) is delighted to have been awarded new funding for permanent therapy roles in Neonatal care here at the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
The successful candidate will deliver specialist Physiotherapy care on the neonatal unit, working alongside the Neonatal Physiotherapy Clinical Lead, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Dietitians in addition to the well-established nursing and medical neonatal team all specialising within the field of neonates.
The successful candidate will be expected to join the respiratory on-call rota which covers patients across the acute areas of paediatric and adults. Support and personalised training would be given to the successful candidate to ensure their confidence and competency prior initiation onto the rota. Regular on-call training is delivered through a variety of mediums including Sim-Lab scenario's to maintain knowledge and skills.
Working in this highly rewarding specialist clinical area, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop your clinical knowledge and skill set in a supportive and collaborative environment . Together with your newly recruited AHP colleagues and Clinical Leads you will be part of delivering a developing service; building strong relationships with stakeholders, infants, families and their care givers will be key to achieve best possible care.
Main duties of the job

Working with infants preterm, high-risk infants and those receiving palliative care, physiotherapists provide intervention to support both the infant and their parent/caregiver to develop functional physiological and practical strategies to develop parent and child relationships and preventative disability strategies.
Successful candidates will be required to deliver a service achieving the following best practice criteria:
- Assessments and treatment planning which manage risk of harm through competent examination and intervention procedures.
- Pro-actively continues own professional development
- Uses evidence based practice within own practice
- Assessment of movement patterns and postural dysfunction
- Encouragement of age appropriate postural and movement activities
- Management of orthopaedic conditions
- Management of Neonatal respiratory presentations
- Developmentally supportive care
- Pain management
- Skin-to-skin care
- Infant feeding
- Parent engagement
- Maintains a wider peer support network with involvement in the Neonatal Network AHP strategy
