Job summary

Fixed term / Secondment opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Surgical Services Management Team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust for a fixed term or secondment opportunity of 12 months duration.

The successful candidate will be one of three Operational Managers responsible for the operational delivery of services within Surgery. You will work closely with the Clinical Leads and Matrons to drive forward strategy and our ambitious programme for service improvement and sustained delivery of key local and national performance standards including 18 week RTT and cancer waiting times.

Main duties of the job

Providing leadership and operational management support to the Centre Manager, you must have current NHS experience with a strong focus on delivery and a desire for success. Working with the Clinical Directors and Centre Manager, the post-holder is responsible for formulating and implementing service delivery plans to achieve the operational and strategic objectives of the Centre.

You should have the skills to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and motivate others effectively.

Accountable for service delivery, the post-holder will be required to liaise with service users, other agencies and stakeholders along with working closely with other teams to ensure efficient and effective management of all resources to deliver safe, high quality and effective patient care.

  • Demonstrate evidence of continuing post graduate study working towards a willing to undertake a master's level

Knowledge and Experience

  • Extensive post graduate management experience or equivalent knowledge obtained through a combination of continuous development and training courses
  • Extensive experience of working at a band 7 level and above to include evidence of directly line managing a team during this period, preferable in an acute setting managing clinical services, other experience considered
