The Hounslow Speech and Language Therapy Team are offering an exciting opportunity to Band 5 SLTs wanting to gain a broad range of experience while working in our specialist centres and units team. We welcome students looking for their first role to apply.
The Specialist Centres and Units Team deliver high-quality speech and language therapy to school-aged children and young people from Reception through to 18 years old. We work across a range of specialist centres attached to mainstream schools that support pupils with diverse special educational needs. These include (but are not limited to) Autism, Moderate Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Deafness or Hard of Hearing, Visual Impairment, and Speech, Language and Communication Needs.
We work as a multidisciplinary team with allied health professionals, and education settings, to provide high quality care to children with a range of speech, language and communication needs and their families.

Main duties of the job
- To deliver assessment and management for children with speech, language or communication needs ensuring that the service is effective and responsive to the changing needs of the local population.
- To ensure effective joint working practice between the SLT service, other speech & language therapists (SLT) and other relevant professional teams in the fields of health, education, the voluntary sector, social services etc.
- To deliver training to parents and professionals to develop their skills and knowledge enabling them to adapt the communicative environment and reinforce identified advice and strategies throughout the day.
- To provide therapy for children with a range of speech, language and communication needs alongside other SLTs or therapy assistants.
- To maintain an up to date theoretical knowledge and therapeutic evidence-based practice relevant to areas of own clinical practice.
