Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and experienced Consultant Psychologist, with Learning Disabilities and Autism experience to join the Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities.

The successful candidate will be the clinical lead of the psychology team, working within a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals, with an aim to provide high quality care outcomes for people with learning disabilities and Autism in the community.

The post holder will have a strong clinical background with experience and knowledge of a range of psychological interventions for people with a learning disability.

The post holder will lead on service developments, audit and research relevant to clinical practice.

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical and operational oversight of the psychology team, providing regular clinical supervision and expert advice to other members of the team.

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside MDT colleagues in Psychiatry, Nursing, Psychology, Physio, Speech & Language and Occupational Therapy to improve health outcomes and promote independence for your client group.

Initial assessments

Eligibility assessments and psychometric assessments

Clinical caseload management of psychology referrals

Hold a small complex case load, providing psychological interventions for people with learning disabilities

Provide leadership to the Clinical Psychologists within CTPLD and ensure the development of high quality clinical services that take account of the evidence base in keeping with national policy and the Trust's objectives.

Service development of the psychology team; the development of care pathways in line with research and national guidance.

Represent the profession of learning disability psychology in the trust in areas relevant to their professional and clinical competence and expertise.

Recruitment of clinical psychologists in the team, and responsible for succession planning, and management of the psychology establishment in line with the budget.

Ensure clinical supervision is available for all qualified and unqualified clinical psychologists in line with Trust Policy, ACP CPD guidelines and supporting trainees in placement.
