Job summary

West London NHS Trust (WLT) has been commissioned to provide the first female, Level 2 specialist mental health high support rehabilitation ward, based at The Orchard Unit, St Bernards Hospital, Ealing.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Nurse Manager to join and lead our dedicated team on Melrose ward on a permanent or 1 year secondment contract. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of female mental health rehabilitation in a supportive and innovative environment. You will be part of a forward-thinking team committed to high quality patient care and recovery.

Melrose ward is a 10 bedded Level 2 specialist mental health high support rehabilitation ward, based at The Orchard in Ealing. The service will provide care and intensive support to women with complex mental health needs particularly where previous placements have been unable to adequality support their recovery. The service will offer trauma-informed, gender sensitive care with staff trained in the specific needs of women, as well as to facilitate family involvement and social inclusion supporting transitions to community settings.

The clinical model is based on a holistic approach in assessing, planning and delivering care and treatment underpinned by a biopsychosocial model and assessment of need. There will be multidisciplinary working throughout the care pathway and the model is trauma informed and provides gender sensitive care.

Main duties of the job

1. To establish and maintain communication, with various individuals and groups of patients, carers and staff on complex potentially stressful topics in a range of situations.

2. To develop knowledge and practice on the ward and across the service.

3. To promote best practice in health, safety and security.

4. To develop and improve services.

6. To enable people to exercise their rights and promote their equality and diversity.

7. To ensure the ongoing assessment of people's care needs on the ward.

8. To ensure that the planning, delivery and evaluation of care programmes addresses the complex and changing needs all patients.

9. To develop and sustain partnership working with individuals, groups, communities and agencies.

10. To lead the ward team in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice.

11. To allocate, coordinate, monitor and assess the work of the team and individuals
