Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner

Job summary

We are seeking to recruit trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) for Wave 14 Hounslow and Ealing Mental Health Support Teams (MHST). The post is permanent conditional on successful completion of training in a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self- management interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression and/or behavioural difficulties. As this is a Postgraduate level training, you will be required to study and perform at academic level. Applicants must be prepared to work towards their studies outside of protected study time (such as on weekends and after work) and must be willing to travel into London to attend their lectures.

Main duties of the job

Key Deliverables

With appropriate supervision, to work as an autonomous and responsible practitioner as their training affords and within the scope of their local job description, to engage in;

o Delivering evidence-based intervention for children and young people in education setting with mild to moderate mental health problemso Helping children and young people within these settings who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist serviceso Supporting and facilitating staff in education settings to identify and where appropriate manage issues related to mental health and wellbeingo Working with and within education environments to afford better access to specialist mental health services

And to use the acquired skills, knowledge and abilities to deliver a service based within education settings that builds on and reinforces but does not replace those initiatives that already exist within these environments.
