Clinical Governance Lead

Job summary

The ost Holder will be providing expert advice and support to Borough and Clinical Directors, Service Managers and Heads of Service, on patient safety, clinical effectiveness and quality of care delivered; with a particular emphasis on ensuring incidents and patient feedback are reported, reviewed and learning shared in accordance with best practice.

To support a dynamic portfolio of clinical governance, patient safety and patient feedback services to deliver the West London NHS Trust Quality and Patient Safety Strategy, and adhere to related policies and statutory expectations.

As well as working in a corporate and integrated way within the larger Clinical Governance Team, the post holder will be responsible for providing expert patient safety and patient experience support to Hounslow Borough mental health services.

The post holder will also be expected to work across borough and services lines, and take the lead on key Trust-wide clinical governance projects, as reasonable circumstances dictate, and as directed by their line manager

Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to:

o act as the highly visible key point of support for all clinical governance issues relating to the service line(s) they are supporting.o encourage and support safe and effective clinical practice through close working with clinical teams, whilst facilitating the sharing of best practiceo support clinical service lines with the timely reporting and investigation of all incidents and/or complaints, in accordance with Trust policieso act as an incident review or complaint investigation expert panel member as requiredo support borough / clinical service lines in the completion of PSII reviews / investigations within agreed timeframes, and to escalate where these will not be meto work closely with borough / clinical service lines to ensure outcomes of PSII reviews are used to support shared learning across the clinical service lineso facilitate After Action Reviews where relevant and ensure that these are completed within agreed timeframes, and escalate if these will not be meto analyse and develop relevant clinical governance data in order to produce both written and verbal reports that provide demonstrable evidence of learning and reduction in risk
