Job summary

As a band 6 MSK physiotherapist you will have to opportunity to continue developing your clinical skills for practice. Participation in our inhouse development program will also equip you with skills and attributes essential to the rest of your career. You will be fully integrated into a larger team with a focus on delivering high quality care at the right time and place.

As the successful candidate you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership skills. Good organisation skills: able to plan own work but also work effectively within a team. Ability to prioritise and make sound decisions, sometimes under pressure. You will carry a varied caseload of musculoskeletal complaints with a view to utilise all treatment and care options as appropriate, with the support of a named supervisor.

Main duties of the job

To carry out effective and appropriate assessments using knowledge and skills combined with clinical reasoning and also to contribute towards accurate diagnosis.

o Work with patients to identify and agree treatment goals delivering patient centred care based on assessment out-comes, which demonstrate a good knowledge of the complex interaction of risk, safety, patient choice, shared decision making, independence, areas of conflict and eligibility for the serviceso Use communication, reasoning and negotiation skills to establish a working partnership with patients, families and carers identifying barriers to communicationo Plan and lead patient group sessions as clinically relevanto Address all risk areas associated with individual patient's ability to functiono Contribute to effective discharge planningo Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of interventions/treatments using outcome measureso Represent the Physiotherapy Service within the multidisciplinary team and participate in relevant team/network meetings, clinics and to contribute to the discussion and planning of patient care.o Work with assistants and technical instructors regarding clinical caseloads and provide necessary support on clinical issues

  • Gateway question: Significant post registration clinical experience in musculoskeletal care in the NHS or equivalent experience

  • Broad range of band 5 care clinical specialities including Musculoskeletal and Orthopaedics
