Job summary
Based in a popular area of West London, we are looking for a dynamic and skilled colleague to provide consultant input to the Ealing Specialist Older Adult Mental Health Service (SOAMHS) within the Older People's Mental Health Service (OPMHS). The service provides care to patients aged over 70 presenting with a severe functional mental health condition, working closely with the Cognitive Impairment and Dementia Service.
It is a specialist commissioned service with a highly skilled and synergistic multidisciplinary team. The Care Quality Commission awarded the West London NHS Trust Community-Based Mental Health Services for Older People a "Good" rating.
WLT is one of the largest most diverse mental health services in the UK, employing around 4300 staff who are providing care and treatment for around 20,000 people each year and serving a local population of approximately 800,000 residents in the boroughs of Ealing, Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham. Clinical services are rated as Good by the CQC with an Outstanding rating for Caring.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be based primarily at Elm Lodge in Greenford, Ealing. The post will involve leadership of the MDT as well as consultation/liaison GPs, primary care services and other mental health teams.
We are looking for a colleague with experience of working in older adult mental health services who is an excellent clinician, enthusiastic leader and mentor and who is passionate about continuous service improvement. You should have good communication and interpersonal skills, a commitment to community care for older people, and be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively and flexibly with a multi professional team.
The roles report directly to the Clinical Director, Medical Lead and Head of Operations.
