Job summary

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic team player to join the Health and Fitness team within Broadmoor Hospital.

As an RTS Therapy support worker we require you to have a genuine interest inpromoting physical health and wellbeing and the ability to work both individually and as part of the team. You will work alongside the current team in supportingthe implementation of a new timetable with an ever growing number of activities in line with national standards of increasing opportunities for our patient group to access physical activities.

This is a challenging role that requires a highly motivated member of staff who will be able to provide and promote the value of physical fitness and daily activity.

Main duties of the job

Support a determined group of staff in providing meaningful activities within the realms of Health and Fitness to all patients within the hospital.

Ensure activities match the abilities of our patient group and in line with nationalguidance.

The post holder will provide and promote the value of physical fitness and daily activity to a wide variety of patients. Most patients who may need extra support

and motivation to engage in sporting activities which sometimes need to be adaptedto help patients achieve.

Working in close collaboration with the ward multi-disciplinary teams to motivate and engage patients. which may form part of wider NHS England targets.

Attend monthly supervision, regular appraisals and complete secondary induction.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder role is to proactivity motivate and engage patients and helps them to engage in meaningful activities with the support and supervision of senior staff. Part of the role is to take an active part in safety procedures, such as daily searches of patients and the environment, preparation work for sessions, undertaking patient observations, escorting patients and helping with the management of patient incompatibilities.

Key Result Areas & Performance:

  1. To assist in the provision of a flexible, needs lead service, based on activities which meet identified needs of the patients attending
  2. The band 3 will be asked to identify meaningful sports, hobbies and vocational skills to help maintain and develop patient concentration and engagement in tasks
  3. The post holder will actively support all patient movement with the hospital environment and assist with supervised movement and escorting as required
  4. The post holder will ensure that the facilities/ areas are used with strict adherence to Hospital, Central Building and Local Operational Policies
  5. The post holder will undertake daily, weekly and quarterly searches of identified areas as per hospital policy and local procedures
  6. The post holder will proactively engage with patients 100% of each patient session
  7. They will undertake the searches of the patients on entry and exit of sessions as per policy / procedure
  8. The post holder will take responsibility for the unit radio and camera as requested
  9. To help co-facilitate sessions under the direction of senior staff
  10. The post holder will effectively maintain accurate records of relevant security information
  11. Undertake relief duties as appropriate for the maintenance of the service.

  4. To undertake other duties to ensure the safe running of the hospital
  5. To maintain and report accurate statistical data and information as required
  6. To contribute to specific projects as agreed in relation to development of the service, the individuals role and clinical governance.

Financial

  1. To ensure NHS resource / supplies are used for the good to the patients and accurate and transparent records are kept of supplies
  2. All expenses claims will be completed as per hospital policy in an accurate and timely manner.
