Job summary

We are delighted to go out for substantive recruitment for the post of Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy. The successful applicant will take up the clinical leadership for the Hounslow Psychotherapy service, working closely with both specialist CEN (complex emotional needs) services and other community mental health services.

The trust has a psychotherapy service within each of the boroughs which work together to ensure best pathways for all those likely to benefit from psychotherapy and within the context of Tiers 2 to 4 CEN services (the Cassel Hospital is within the directorate). Our new integrated community mental health teams (MINT) also offer unique opportunities for close liaison with primary care. The trust is an early implementer site for the Community Mental Health Framework. This has meant an investment in adult services and an emphasis on delivering care aligned with the primary care networks and integrating with our partners within and outside of the trust.

Main duties of the job

The day to day clinical management of the department will involve offering patient consultations, holding an individual case load, supervising the clinical work of department staff and trainees, providing medical psychotherapy training and consulting with other services within both CEN and MINT.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with and continue to develop our well respected psychotherapy services and pathways and to engage with staff who are highly motivated to consult with the team. The Department has a strong commitment to training junior medical and other staff. The post-holder will be encouraged and supported to achieve accreditation as a trainer and hold a Clinical Supervisor role. The post holder will be expected to participate in the Higher Psychotherapy Academic Teaching programme.
