Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within London's world class Major Trauma System at St Mary's Hospital with West London NHS Trust for two Band 5 Assistant Psychologists.
The post holders will work as part of a newly established Major Trauma Psychology team to help deliver psychological care for service users, families and staff at the St Mary's Major Trauma Centre, including for major incidents.
The post holders will join a clinical team comprised of one 8b Clinical psychologist, 3 band 8a Clinical Psychologists and two band 5 assistant psychologists.
The MTC clinical team is further supported by a Senior Project Analyst and academic partner particularly looking at the evaluation of the project, and the local Head of Psychology and the Clinical Lead for the Trauma Psychology Network who are involved with the project at a pan-London level and based within West London NHS Trust/ Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
Main duties of the job
The postholders will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the Major Trauma Centre, on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.
The postholders will provide support with initial holistic questioning and assisting with assessment, screening and follow up screening under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.
The role will involve working closely alongside the medical and multidisciplinary therapies team on the Major Trauma ward.
The postholders will also be involved in audit and evaluation activities, which will be a crucial part of the pilot project and demonstrating impact and outcomes.
We have paired with an academic partner for this project who will oversee the data recording, collection and analysis, to ensure it is of a high standard for research dissemination and publication.
