This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated MH Nurse, Social Worker, OT, Psychologist or therapist to join a dynamic and growing Psychiatric Liaison Service at West Middlesex Hospital. We are looking for a practitioner that has a passion in working with young people and their families when in crisis and will support upskilling our team working with CAMHS and also assist with establishing better pathways for this group of patients.
As a senior member of the Psychiatry Liaison team, you will help contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive liaison service within a general hospital. The role comprises a diverse range of clinical work alongside a strong leadership element. Motivation for innovation and development is essential, as post-holder will be involved in service user care and experience, team development and service improvement.
Main duties of the job
You will represent psychiatric services within the general hospital environment, and provide specialist support to referring clinicians and clinical teams in the acute trust, assisting them in decision making in difficult and complex cases.
You will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced mental health professional who is committed in promoting patient focused care and treatment.
The Liaison Psychiatry CAMHS Specialist will be required to undertake biopsychosocial assessments and make clear autonomous decisions, after an assessment, of young people who have presented in crisis. The Specialist Mental Health Practitioner will support discharge, from a psychiatric perspective, from both the Accident & Emergency Departments and the In-patient medical/surgical wards in consultation with the SPR and team Consultant or medics on- call. When not busy with CAMHS cases, you will also have the opportunity to work with patients from different age groups.
You will promote carer/family involvement where required and will liaise with colleagues from other areas of health and social care to coordinate and facilitate safe discharge plans.
You will be encouraged to share your views and ideas to improve service delivery. You will have managerial protected time to work on the pathways between A&E, CAMHS services, social care, discharge destinations. You will take responsibility for projects associated with the provision of the Liaison Psychiatric Service.

- You will be required to make clear autonomous decisions based on an analysis of the complex presenting problems and make judgements based on available treatment options.
