Community Matron - Haemoglobinopathies

Job summary
In conjunction with the haemoglobinopathies leads across North Central London, the post holder will be responsible for the delivery, management and ongoing development of a high-quality specialist sickle cell and thalassemia service in the community. The post holder will provide expert clinical and Operational leadership and practice at an advanced level demonstrating a high level of autonomy and clinical decision making in the community.
The post holder will take day to day operational management responsibility for the planning,directing and performance management of the service. They will also ensure that service accessand delivery is efficient, effective, evidence-based needs led, and patient and carer focused. Theywill provide clear leadership, in partnership with Organizational Operational manager and equivalent community matron at Partner site in order to ensure timely screening, treatment and interventions by well led and motivated staff that contributes to promoting safety for patients and carers. The post holder will work with the Local Organizational Operational manager to ensure that team performance targets are consistently met by developing and implementing improvement plans as and when necessary.
Main duties of the job
- To deliver effective Clinical and operational leadership and direction to staff and team
- To provide line management to delegates of their team
- Carry a Clinical caseload of complex patients
- To act as Clinical expert for the wider team
- o ensure services meet care quality and performance management standards
- To ensure effective performance management and professional leadership of the workforce
- To ensure services are cost effective and delivered within budget
- To lead change management in the implementation of service development strategies
- To create a culture in which innovative ideas and strategies can flourish and provide vision and inspiration to enable staff to deliver care more effectively
- To work with the Service Manager to deliver robust financial management in line with Service Line, Divisional and Trust targets, including the realistic Cost Improvement Programmes
- To represent the Service Line at external meetings with stakeholders
- To deputise for the Service Manager as appropriate.
