Job summary

The post is for a qualified nurse who wants to further their experience and skills in surgical nursing mainly in urology field. The post holder is also expected to have a flexible "can do" approach in ensuring the work of the department is carried out to the required high standards. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate excellent clinical skills and teach other staff and learners. The post holder will also be expected to be an excellent role model and treat all staff, visitors and service users with tact and courtesy.

Main duties of the job

Provide support to the flexible cystoscopy clinic/treatment room and DTC ward.

Assist clinicians with carrying out minor procedures/ Flexible cystoscopy.

Provide support to patients during surgical and clinical procedures in DTC ward and Urology Flexible Cystoscopy/treatment room.

Monitor and maintain the quality of nursing activities and achieve the prescribed standards of nursing care set for the department.

Maintain effective communication and participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication with the patient and their carer(s).Provide information which enables patients to make choices about adopting a healthier lifestyle.

Complete patient documentation correctly, appropriately and in a timely manner ensuring this is filed properly in the patients' medical notes.

To work in accordance with Whittington Health Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and contribute towards achieving objectives.

Develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care including referring patient to community services when necessary.

  • Acting as a member of the Day Treatment Centre Ward.
  • To provide urology advice and education to patients, staff and learners within the directorate as required.
  • To develop communication networks across specialities and throughout the multidisciplinary team.

  • Proof of Part 1 Registration with NMC
