Job summary
We are looking for a children's therapy assistant to join our NHS Haringey Universal Therapy Service (HUTS). This service started in January 2024 and is a part of Haringey's Universal 0-19 pathway. Its main focus is early intervention at 0-5 years and comprises of speech and language therapy and occupational therapy.
The post holders will work directly with children and families and Early Years settings in Haringey to develop good practice around the support of children aged 0-5 with their physical, communication, play and early independence skills. This will include providing information, modelling and training to Early Years practitioners and families around developing these skills in Early Years settings and external agencies (e.g. children centres, family hubs, libraries and voluntary sector). The postholder will collaborate with practitioners across the Early Years Workforce in these settings, to deliver evidenced based approaches.
We are looking for candidates with experience in working with children, who are enthusiastic, highly motivated and well organised and who can show a commitment to supporting children with additional needs.
HUTS is part of the wider Haringey Children's Therapy team: a large, friendly and supportive team based at Tynemouth Road Health Centre in Haringey.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work, organising and delivering a universal service to families with children under 5 and will be involved in the early identification and support of children with speech, language and communication needs[JD1] and difficulties participating in daily activities (e.g. self-care and leisure activities). They will develop information, advice and training packages and deliver these to a wide range of audiences including parents/carers and those working within Health, Education, the voluntary sector and community groups. They will work closely with the NHS team and with Early Language and Communication officers employed by the Local Authority.
