Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for: -
Management of the Datix system for Women's Health services patient safety incidents
Support the area matrons/clinical leads in the day to day management of clinical risk.
In conjunction with the Clinical Governance manager, participates in the clinical risk management process within Women's Health Services
Liaise with the central governance team in regards to risk management.
Foster co-operative relationship between medical staff / midwives /nurses and other health professionals within Women's Health Services.
Main duties of the job
Investigate patient safety incidents
Document findings of the investigations and close all maternity patient safety incidents on Datix
Write and distribute the 'Message of the Week'
Write the monthly risk management newsletter
Write the monthly and quarterly incident reports.
Chair the incident review group
Prepare incident reports/action plans in conjunction with Clinical Governance Manager and maternity Matrons.
Prepare papers/sent out the minutes/participate in Women's Health services governance meetings.
Participate in Incident Reviews (e.g. PSI, PSII, RAR, AAR)
Attend and participate in the weekly perinatal meetings.
Work and liaise closely with the Clinical Governance Manager and Trust Risk Management Office.
Work with the Clinical Governance Manager, Midwifery Management Team, and Clinical Leads to develop action plans to address practice deficits / improvements in practise / service provision.

- Up to date professional portfolio demonstrating ongoing professional development including midwifery mandatory skills & drills and other regulatory mandatory training
- Registered mentor
Experience

- Woman-centred approach to care
- Previous comprehensive midwifery experience- at least 3 years post qualification
- Ability to demonstrate an expert working knowledge and clinical experience of safeguarding and midwifery in all areas of the maternity service
- Use of computerised information systems

- Have worked in a multi-agency approach
- Involvement with clinical audit and research, including implementation and review
