Maternity Lead Digital Midwife

Job summary

The Maternity Lead Digital Midwife will lead on the implementation and development of

the maternity digital record aligned to the digital strategy. They will work collaboratively

to ensure that the organisational digital agenda includes the maternity digital agenda.

They will be required to champion the aims and objectives of the digital maternity

transformation and will develop and maintain strong relationships with clinical leads,

practice development team, operational managers, and the wider IM&T team to deliver

an effective and innovative maternity digital record solution that underpins high quality

maternity care delivery aligned to national benchmarks.

The post holder needs a sound understanding of current and future maternity digital

drivers and digital maternity record requirements and will draw on their clinical,

technical, and operational experience to work collaboratively to develop and deploy

solutions to meet the demanding requirements of maternity care.

Main duties of the job

Drive, align and deliver on strategies linked to the maternity service

transformation, the maternity digital electronic patient record (MEPR)

programme and IM&T strategy to support a culture of woman-centred care

within the Maternity service.

Support the Clinical Governance Team for Maternity services delivering the

Clinical Governance Framework.

Contribute to the successful delivery of the Maternity Digital Transformation

programme aligned with the trust EPR programme.

Lead and support co-production with Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP).

Being aware of process and procedure and enable, frontline maternity

clinicians/specialists to optimise and continue to embed the use of the DMCR

(Digital Maternity Clinical Record) to reduce information silos, improve

consistent risk assessment standards and thereby improving safety and

supporting organisational reporting and audit requirements. Which in turn will

support organisational Maternity reporting of Maternal and Neonatal reporting

schedules/cycles for local, regional, and national mandatory reporting

requirements (MSDS, CNST).

Support and advise clinical leads on how the DMCR can, as a by-product of

care, capture, extract and submit data to the MSDS to the required standard.

Contribute to NCL, LMNS, and national development of Maternity Dashboard.

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • Professional and competent knowledge related to Maternal, Fetal and Neonatal care across the maternity pathway
  • Teaching qualification- Mentorship qualification and / or recent teaching activity
  • MSc level) or equivalent experience in one or more of the following- Governance systems and process (e.g. complaints management/ risk management /quality assurancesystems/governance/Improvement/Leaders hip)

Desirable

  • Health Informatics postgraduate qualification

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Digitally literate with a good knowledge and understanding of digital systems and advances to develop and manage electronic patient records
  • Problem solving and analytical skills relating to the identification and assessment of evidence required to support decision making
  • Ability to understand and support implementation of IT systems and specify reporting requirements where accuracy is essential
  • Ability to be critically analytical using evidence-based Maternity clinical/ nonclinical information to investigate, review, identify, correct, amend issues in information systems - Maternity digital record, PAS, digital information systems that impact on organisational, professional clinical accountability.
  • Awareness and understanding of the relevance of high-quality data and data validity
  • Awareness of professional accountability and the importance of data impact on contextual clinical risk assessments

  • In-depth knowledge of IM&T system and procedures acquired through a combination of specialist training and relevant study to master's degree or equivalent level

  • Experience of working with healthcare clinical IT systems
  • In-depth understanding of the Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS) and ability to apply the findings to improve service delivery
  • Understanding of MSDS, CNST, SVBL v3 and evidenced based risk assessments.
