Job summary
The Pharmacy Technician plays a key role in ensuring efficient and high quality patient care is consistently delivered and maintained.
They will manage the workflow in the Outpatient Dispensary and support the delivery of a high-quality Outpatient pharmacy service, under the direction of the General Pharmacy manager and Superintendent Pharmacist.
They will be expected to pass in-house competency assessments as part of their induction/probation.
Duties include: Managing overall dispensary workflow and assisting with the assembly of prescriptions using JAC and ARIM softwares in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Provision of comprehensive counselling to patients on the use of medication.
Providing health and well-being advice and recommending suitable remedies for minor ailments by signposting patients or through sales of OTC and pharmacy only medicines.
Stock management including: receipt, storage, date checking and stock house-keeping.
NVQ Level 3 plus accredited underpinning knowledge [BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent] or equivalent.
Registered as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification (or to be achieved within 12 months of commencement).
Main duties of the job
We're Hiring - FULL TIME (40 hours per week) Outpatient Pharmacy Technician
Whether dispensing medication, providing pharmacy services, recommending pharmaceutical lines to patients and healthcare colleagues, you will be providing personalised solutions to help people lead healthier lives - this is work with real purpose.
You would be expected to assist with managing the flow of work in the Outpatient Pharmacy.
To be the technical link person between Outpatient pharmacy and patients.
To manage and organise dispensary workflow and support the safe, accurate and timely supply of medicines to patients.
To adhere to and maintain quality standards and performance indicators for service developments implemented.
To cover weekends or bank holiday shifts as necessary.
To support the development of the Outpatient Pharmacy working closely with the Superintendent Pharmacist to expand a prescribing clinic.
Complete training or currently be able to accuracy check clinically screened dispensed prescriptions, according to SOPs.
