Job summary

The Patient Safety Administrator will work as a member of the Patient Safety Team to support the Head of Patient Safety and wider team to create an organisational safety culture that focuses on high quality care standards, preventing avoidable harm by analysing trends, lessons learned and promoting quality improvement of services provided through evidence-based practice.

This role will be integral to developing and maintaining key administrative processes, including robust tracking and monitoring mechanisms, to ensure the Patient Safety Team is supported in managing its functions across the Trust. This will include the collation of patient safety data, ensuring relevant databases are kept updated with information, and coordinating reports.

This role requires an experienced professional person with excellent organisational and communication skills, who has a flexible approach to work and is sensitive to the content of investigations being managed.

This is an important role to support the Patient Safety team in efficiently carrying out its responsibilities.

Main duties of the job

This post will assist the Patient Safety Information Manager, Head of Patient Safety, and wider Quality Governance Team, by providing day-to-day system and administrative support for patient safety, on the Trust's Risk Management System (DatixWeb).

  • The post holder will provide day to day administration of the Trust's risk management system
  • Provide support and advice to all users across the Trust trouble shooting issues as they arise and handling queries.
  • Maintain the risk management system for the trust
  • Ensure LFPSE event data is appropriately monitored ensuring it is being uploaded constantly and accurately to NHSE and acting on any error messages that may arise when events are submitted.
  • Take on the role of the Central Alerting System (CAS) Liaison Officer, acknowledging receipt of alerts, interpret and appropriately cascading alerts within the Trust.
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Assist the Patient Safety Information Manager with the production of appropriate training materials and organising and arranging of the Datix training sessions.
  • Take responsibility for the updating and maintenance of the patient safety intranet pages
  • Administer and take minutes for various meetings across the Trust.
