We have an opportunity at the Whittington Hospital for an enthusiastic & forward-thinking Physiotherapist to join in our Care of Older People Team.

As part of the leadership team you would be jointly responsible for the day-to-day management of the Care of the Older Persons Therapy Team which comprises of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants.

As an experienced clinician you will be responsible for providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment to older patients with complex presentations. This will include patients with traumatic and acquired neurological conditions.

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive physiotherapist with experience of working in a care of older person setting who is passionate about driving clinical excellence across the service.

As a compassionate leader you will be enthusiastic about developing staff within your team to support them in reaching their potential.

Good communication and organisational skills are essential. Close working with internal & external providers/stakeholders is integral.

Main duties of the job

To be a team leader and be jointly responsible for the day-to-day management of the Care of Older Persons (COOP) team and co-lead Physiotherapist for care of Older People.

To be a competent, autonomous clinician, highly skilled in the assessment and treatment of patients with a wide variety of conditions, including but not limited to patients presenting with multiple comorbidities, traumatic and acquired neurological conditions, respiratory conditions, falls, complex trauma , vestibular dysfunction, frailty and those requiring palliative care.

To carry a caseload of patients, providing assessment and treatment with a focus on rehabilitation and discharge planning.

To be a specialist resource for other professionals and the multi-disciplinary teams working with these patients.

The post holder will work with other seniors AHP's forming a specialist team to manage the presenting caseload on the care of older people wards with knowledge and expertise in dementia, delirium, complex pathologies, and the impact of ageing on physical, social and psychological functioning. The post holder will support other therapists across all wards in managing patients where their expertise can support clinical decision making and provision of optimal therapy.

To be competent in the assessment and treatment of patients presenting with respiratory conditions to the level required to participate in the on-call and weekend service.
