Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for the management and delivery of the acute diabetes service to patients with type 1 diabetes at Whittington Health's hospital / secondary care site. This will include inpatients and outpatient diabetes care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will deputise in the absence of the Diabetes Consultant Nurse providing clear leadership and management direction to the diabetes specialist nurses and other HCP's where required.
- The post holder will have expertise in the management of Type 1 diabetes for patients both with and without an insulin pump and will lead on providing care and developing services for this patient group, in collaboration with the members of the diabetes multidisciplinary team (MDT),
- The post holder will be an expert resource in insulin pump therapy including starting patients on insulin pumps and providing advice and support to patients already using an insulin pump.
- The post holder will be willing to take part in regular insulin pump MDT meetings and to keep records up to date of insulin pump users.
- The post holder will be willing to take part in insulin pump audits.
