BAND 5 (accelerated 12 months to band 6) or band 6 OT Haringey Urgent Response

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a band 5 OT to join our friendly and welcoming community therapy team (SLT/PT/OT/RT) in Haringey . This is an excellent opportunity for individuals to develop their clinical skills and knowledge in a variety of settings (General Community Rehab, Falls Prevention, Urgent care)working with experienced clinicians and within supportive work environments. Band 5 training is provided and the group meet regularly for peer support. We are offering a 12 month accelerated run through to band 6 (competencies to be met).

This post is for either an experienced or newly qualified Occupational Therapist to join our community team working across the Haringey borough. The post holder is responsible for a caseload of patients as delegated by the Senior or Team Leader of the clinical service, and as such is professionally and legally accountable for work undertaken. The post holder will set and maintain a high standard of clinical practice, which is evidence based where possible, using local and standardized assessments and outcome measures, where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

To assess and treat patients with a client centred approach, addressing quality of life, physical, cognitive, affective, social and environmental issues either on an individual or a group basis, utilising a range of therapeutic skills in accordance with devised treatment plans, within the community settings.

To devise and manage a treatment plan individual to a clients presenting condition through, the use of functional rehabilitation, adaptation, equipment provision, education, health promotion and cognitive or psychological approaches.

To ensure Client and service records are recorded and maintained, as per local Occupational Therapy, HCPC, BAOT and Trust guidelines.

To prescribe, delegate and monitor the work of Rehabilitation Assistants/ Therapy assistants and Technicians or Support Workers and countersign documentation if required.

To manage clinical risk in own caseload and ensure that therapy/rehabilitation assistants and students comply, e.g. manual handling, risk assessment and local policy regarding lone working.
