Band 6 Occupational Therapist

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic clinician to join our friendly Islington urgent and rapid response service (IURRS).You will be expected to have a broad range of experience of occupational therapy. Experience in assessing and developing treatment plans for older people and for people with physical disabilities is essential.

You will be a senior clinician in team and also responsible for managing own caseload and providing clinical and therapeutic guidance to junior OTs/rehab assistants working with people with complex needs, to enable the team to undertake service development, changes of service, practice and ways of working to enable effective inter-discipline working.

The team is currently under consultation /re-structuring in line with the NHS long term plans for urgent community response. This role may in near future involve weekend working to a rota following the UCR consultation and may involve weekend working.

Main duties of the job

Your role of as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist is to be the senior OT clinician for your team; managing own caseload and complex cases;assess, treat and rehabilitate community patients in their own homes/care homes/sheltered accommodations etc within the Islington borough.

You will provide specialist assessments, interventions, guidance to support patients in their home environments and escalate risks, train staff and service users. You will be expected to supervise junior OT's in the team and provide advice and support as needed. Be actively involved in student teaching and supervision, help the lead OT in creating robust in-service training for the clinicians in the team.

Support the lead OT and service managers to implement change. Actively participate in service development and staff management.
