Advanced Clinical Practitioner

Job summary

A high profile, accessible and responsive team member with clinical responsibilities for the delivery of Advanced Nursing Practice in Cardiothoracic surgery. Able to make informed decisions within their own speciality and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, targets and objectives are met.

The post holder will be an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) qualified to Masters' Level, who will join the clinical team of Advanced Nurse Practitioners within the cardiothoracic service. Qualified practitioners will autonomously assess elective and non-elective cardiothoracic patients, including initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. They will demonstrate safe, clinical decision making and expert care for patients, providing appropriate clinical management plans and medication prescription within statutory, trust and individual independent prescribing scope.

Secondment will be considered for internal candidates - If you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Main duties of the job

This role will require clinical skills which will support the service users in the cardiothoracic department and deliver quality whilst ensuring safety at all times. Enhanced communication will be an important aspect of this role due to the multidisciplinary care and referrals to external hospitals and services

The ACP will be required to participate in all four pillars of the Advanced Practice role including clinical, educational, leadership and research domains. The ACP will participate in providing relevant education and training for nurses and analysing ongoing training needs, in conjunction with Trust and Cardiothoracic Practice Education professionals. The ACP will be required to ensure evidence-based care is delivered to patients and will be involved in audit of practice,
