Clinical Specialist / Team Leader Physiotherapist, Paediatrics

Job summary

Are you an experienced and motivated Physiotherapist with a passion for delivering high-quality paediatric care? We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 7 Acute Paediatric Physiotherapist with a specialist interest in respiratory assessment and treatment,to join our dynamic inpatient team and take on key team leader responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on developing and empowering others within the team.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape service delivery and contribute to innovative, child-centred therapy across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You will provide highly specialist clinical care while fostering a positive, compassionate, and collaborative culture that supports staff wellbeing, growth, and high-quality patient care.

The role includes clinical time on the wards and paediatric respiratory clinics, including home visits.

To support your introduction into the role, there will be a planned induction period which will include meeting relevant members of the MDT and undertaking relevant training.

Main duties of the job

Provide a highly specialist, high standard Physiotherapy service, assessing and advising on patients care and treatment, as an autonomous practitioner within the defined patient group.

Be a clinical lead for therapy staff across the service area providing clinical advice, training, and liaising with other appropriate Therapy leads to ensure an integrated service is provided for the service area.

Provide support and advice for the continuous development, co-ordination and evaluation of Paediatric pathways (therapy and trust pathways)

Provide a source of expert clinical opinion within the field of Respiratory Paediatrics for therapy staff and other health care professionals both internal and external to the Trust.

Provide knowledge and expertise on the Physiotherapy assessment and management of Respiratory Paediatric in and outpatients.

Responsible for team absence management and for the team e-roster ensuring safe service delivery levels and escalation of any challenge delivering this.

The Job plan will comprise up to 70% clinical care and 30% team management and leadership duties, supporting professional and service activities.

  • Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work including the management of patients in own care. Ensure a high standard of clinical care for patients under own management and support more junior staff to do likewise.
  • Interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate diagnosis and prognosis in on wide range of highly complex conditions to recommend the best course of intervention, evaluate outcomes, reassess and to develop comprehensive rehabilitation plans.
