Registered Paediatric Nurse, Paediatric Ambulatory Care

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Registered Children's Nurse to join our dynamic Paediatric Ambulatory Care team, working across both Outpatients and Day Unit settings. You will provide optimum quality care to children and their families attending for day procedures, outpatient clinics, and ambulatory treatments. This is a fantastic opportunity to build on your existing skills, gain new competencies, and work alongside a supportive, skilled team of paediatric nurses and multidisciplinary professionals.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

We have a supportive and welcoming team which includes the Paediatric Ward Management team, Paediatric Matron & Paediatric Lead Nurse. Together they will ensure you receive the support you require throughout the recruitment process as well as overseeing your training and induction requirements to enable you to carry out your role.

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care for children attending Childrens Outpatient Department, Paediatric Medical Day Unit and Surgical Day Unit (Dental, General Surgery, ENT, Oncology, Rheumatology, Endocrine, and more).
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care in partnership with children and families.
  • Demonstrate technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient care management including patient observations; equipment management and administration of agreed invasive tests/procedures.
  • Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data.
  • Manage expected clinical events/enquiries, requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort, ensuring referral to a senior member of staff where appropriate e.g. in an unexpected event.
  • Support patients, carers and others during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g. imparting bad news or following an unexpected event.
  • Support and mentor junior staff and learners.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and the wider team, including in challenging or sensitive situations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment, adhering to infection control and Trust standards.
  • Participate in service improvement, audits, and training programmes.
  • Uphold Trust values in all aspects of your work.
