Job summary
We are offering an exciting opportunity within Imaging at UHCW for the role of Band 7 Service Manager Imaging. This is a pivotal leadership position supporting the Clinical Director, Clinical Lead and Head of Operations for Imaging in delivering a high-quality, patient-centred imaging service across a wide range of subspecialties including body imaging, MSK, paediatrics, nuclear medicine, breast screening, cardiac imaging, interventional radiology and neuro diagnostics.
You will lead on medical workforce coordination for 46 consultant radiologists and 22 specialty registrars, ensuring effective rota management, job planning, and recruitment. The role also encompasses operational delivery, financial oversight, governance, and strategic service development, including digital transformation initiatives. Your leadership will be critical in maintaining safe, efficient, and innovative imaging services that underpin clinical decision-making across the Trust.

This role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence, medical workforce coordination, and strategic alignment across the Imaging department.
A key focus of the role is the oversight and coordination of the medical workforce, including Consultant Radiologists, Specialty Doctors, Registrars, Fellows, and Locums. The postholder will also contribute to governance, compliance, and risk management, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and Trust policies. Main duties and Responsibilities:
Medical Workforce Oversight
- Provide operational oversight of the medical workforce within Imaging, ensuring optimal utilisation of Radiologists clinical and reporting sessions.
- Support the management of medical staff, including regular reviews of establishment levels and skill mix to maintain clinical excellence and service efficiency.
- Ensure robust arrangements are in place to respond to emergencies, including elective and emergency admissions and mechanical failures.
- Undertake project work as directed by the Head of Operations for Imaging.
Operational Management
- Support the implementation of Trust policies and business objectives across the Imaging service.
