Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Band 6 Nurse to join our dynamic Surgical Assessment Ward team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you will play a crucial role in assessing, managing, and coordinating the care of surgical patients.

As a Band 6 Nurse, you will lead clinical practice, support junior staff, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care delivery.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Main duties of the job

  • As a Band 6 Nurse, you will be expected to step up and take on ward management duties in the absence of the Ward Manager, demonstrating strong leadership and decision-making skills to ensure the smooth running of the ward.
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients requiring assessment and short-term management.
  • Work closely with the SAU to facilitate smooth patient transfers and optimize patient flow.
  • Lead and support junior nursing staff and contribute to their development and training.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
  • Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and maintain patient safety and quality standards.
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives on the ward.
