Nurse Colposcopist (BSCCP accredited)

Job summary

The post holder must be an accredited Nurse Colposcopist with the BSCCP (British society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology), and work in collaboration with other Colposcopy Health care professionals to give appropriate specialist advice and treatment.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Main duties of the job

  1. Maintain an identifiable clinical presence within the department and undertake relevant clinical activities.
  2. Ensure a patient-focused, multi-professional approach to care in collaboration with patients, carers, healthcare professionals and other agencies.
  3. Ensure clinical documentation is completed accurately, appropriately and in a timely manner.
  4. Develop, monitor and maintain standards of care in accordance with Trust policies,guidelines, protocols and professional regulations.
  5. Monitor the quality and effectiveness of the services provided by the organisation according to NHSCSP standards and guidelines and take appropriate action to address any shortfalls or escalate appropriately
  6. Ensure that operational policies and quality management systems are implemented across the programme (in conjunction with clinical and operational leads)
  7. Oversee effective failsafe systems for all women referred to colposcopy, in line with the requirements set out in NHSCSP guidance
  8. Contribute to the agreement of the cervical screening contract specification with NHS England and ensure implementation
  9. Ensure that effective systems and IT links are in place to feedback colposcopy attendance and histology outcomes to the screening laboratory.
