Job summary

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious clinical leader to apply for the position of Ward Manager of Ward 20 Care of the Elderly at UHCW NHS Trust.

Ward 20 operates as an 34 bedded care of the elderly ward , where patients presenting with frailty syndromes are admitted and supported by a multidisciplinary team, under the supervision of an Care of the Elderly consultant.

The post holder will hold a vital role within the ward in ensuring patients receive the best care whilst in the hospital.

Secondment will be considered for internal candidates - If you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Main duties of the job

High profile, accessible and responsive leader with clinical, staff and service responsibility for a defined patient group.

The post holder will be able to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, objectives and targets are met. The leader should be able to provide exceptional treatment and care to patients throughout their pathway.

  • Accountable for own actions in accordance with Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute towards corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
  • Highly developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high-quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations. Undertake bleep-holder responsibilities for the areas on a regular basis.
  • A knowledgeable team leader and resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines, ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in practice.a. Will support staff and users in service and policy development within a defined area/specialty.

  • Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
