Due to the current post holder going on maternity leave, we are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic senior pharmacy technician to join the Operational team within Pharmacy.

Main duties of the job
- To work with the Pharmacy Operations Manager to operationally manage all aspects of the service provided by the dispensaries (UH and Rugby sites), stores and ward based service,
- To manage and oversee the HR management of the Technicians & Assistant Technical Offices (ATO's) (PDR's, sickness reviews, OH risk assessments)
- To lead, manage and influence a team of technicians and ATO's in the dispensaries, stores and on the ward areas. This includes ensuring the operational strategy and planning of the department, as delegated through the Pharmacy Operations Manager and Associate Director of Pharmacy - Operations is met.
- To ensure processes are devised, communicated, monitored and controlled within the relevant working areas, both within the pharmacy department, and to the Trust as a whole.
- To support the Governance & Safety Team in the investigation, actions, communication and changes required in response to Datix entries, Pharmacy Quality Improvement and Patient Safety meetings, (QIPS) Medicines Management Committee or other reviews and initiatives (both local, regional and national) in the dispensary, stores and on the wards.

Applicants must be a pharmacy technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- In liaison with other Team Leaders and Senior Technicians, take responsibility for rotating and deploying technicians across all pharmacy departments.
- To ensure that technical staff and ATO staff are made available when required to work in other areas such as the Aseptic Lab and that liaison and adequate planning takes place with other Senior Managers to facilitate this provision.
- Undertake the recruitment and selection of any technical staff or ATOs as required by the Director of Pharmacy.
- Manage the sickness absence and performance and discipline of Technicians and ATOs allocated to your service through performance monitoring and return to work interviews.
- To perform PDRs for all Technicians and ATOs in the pharmacy department.
- To work with the pharmacy operations manager ensuring that through continuous performance monitoring of the dispensing service, all waiting times are kept to a minimum, dispensing errors and complaints are investigated and actions to risk manage these are completed. This may involve difficult discussions with colleagues, patients and other Healthcare Professionals.
