An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered Adult Nurse to join the Maternity department and provide optimum care to patients and their families. and supporting the midwifery team.
This is for a 12 month fixed term Maternity Leave Cover.
Undertaking routine post-operative care including all aspects of nursing care. Immediate basic care of the newborn to include feeding support. Supporting the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) including the increasing complexities of patients. No midwifery specific tasks to be undertaken.

Main duties of the job
A competent practitioner who is able to provide teaching, assessing and supervising junior staff including student midwives and maternity support workers.
Responsible for undertaking post-operative nursing tasks and care for post-surgical mothers and babies but not including midwifery specific tasks.
Demonstrate technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient care management including; patient observations; equipment management, medication administration, wound care and administration of agreed invasive tests/procedures.
Participate in Obstetric emergencies within scope of practice, working alongside the MDT and referring to a senior Midwife where appropriate.

- Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards
