Biomedical Science Training and Recruitment Strategy Lead
Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services (CWPS) is a large, long standing Pathology Network in the South Midlands. Pathology services are provided across three main sites; University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in Coventry, the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton and South Warwickshire Foundation Trust in Warwick.
The CWPS Biomedical Science Training and Recruitment Strategy Lead is a key role within CWPS, co-ordinating and ensuring standardisation of Training and Recruitment across all Pathology Disciplines, as well as collaborating with external organisations to facilitate, develop and establish the supporting Training framework
This role is a Part-time, 12 months Fixed Term / Secondment post, with main responsibilities to chair the monthly CWPS Network Training Committee and work closely with and provide support for the Discipline Training Section Managers to deliver the CWPS Network Training and Recruitment Strategy.
This is an opportunity for the right candidate to expand their experience and knowledge within the area of Training, including developing the use of the on-line ProfilerLive Training and Competency tool with the intention to expand its use across Pathology. CWPS have a number of Recruitment initiatives including apprenticeships and placement students and works closely with local providers to manage these different training routes to improve staff succession planning and retention.
Main duties of the job
- Co-ordinate a team of Pathology Network training officers and liaise with Department Managers to establish current training capacity for the Network Biomedical Science Workforce.
- Design and implement a Training, Education and Recruitment Strategy to ensure sustainable Biomedical Science workforce.
- Manage and chair a CWPS Network Training forum to support delivery of existing training, education and recruitment pathways for Biomedical Science and Pathology support workforce. Implement succession planning and define strategy for achieving future workforce.
- Monitor and ensure delivery of national requirements according to those set out by Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), NHS England, Health Education England (HEE), the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and other professional bodies.
- Support network training officers with issues relating to delivery of current training programmes. Monitor and collate information to support implementation of new training pathways for Biomedical Scientists and the Pathology Biomedical Science support workforce.
- Work with Training officers, department managers and Pathology management to design and implement a Biomedical Assistant and Associate Training Programme according to requirements set out by the CSO at NHS England.
