Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. This post is to provide day to day support to the site-based Infection Prevention and Control Team.

You must be organised, completing tasks in a timely way and be able to support the Infection Prevention and Control Team to meet internal and external deadlines.

Please note sponsorship is not eligible for this position.

Main duties of the job

The role is to support the Infection Prevention and Control team to deliver a comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control service across UHCW.

  1. Effectively communicate with staff across the Trust and with members of the public/other professionals in external organisations
  2. Deal effectively with routine and non-routine enquiries
  3. Maintenance of office stationery, office supplies and uniforms via online system ordering
  4. To ensure timely completion of the E-Rostering system for the Infection Prevention and Control Team

Job description

Job responsibilities

  1. To support the Infection Prevention and Control annual work plan, continually contributing and participating in, patient and business improvement agendas and events.
  2. This will require undertaking any project work as directed, utilising relevant Trust IT systems, as determined by the role, ensuring all relevant data is collected and input accurately in line with Trust and Programme guidelines. Share ideas for potential service improvement. It will also include co-ordinating the planning of service improvement events, study days and actively participating in them.
  3. To implement and maintain an efficient office management system/procedures to enable the Department to optimise their standards of service.

This will require: effective time management, managing schedules and leave arrangements for the IPC and Sepsis Team, ensuring appropriate and timely communications with all relevant personnel; arranging meetings/events; composing and transcribing minutes proactively ensuring action points are raised and completed; preparation of correspondence and reports; effective management of the office by establishing and maintaining efficient manual and electronic correspondence and documentation management systems; ensuring office equipment and stationery is maintained and processing orders as required; assist in inputting report alert isolates as mandatorily required by the HCAI Data Capture System and ensure that reporting is up to date, validating against laboratory results

4.Able to work under own initiative in addition to working effectively as part of a team.

The post holder will also have specific responsibility for providing administrative services to the nursing team. Compiling and circulating agendas, papers and meeting minutes and attending meetings to take the minutes, undertaking work-based risk assessments where required; support the IPCT with the investigation of complaints, FOIs or litigation against the Trust; Support the review and setting up of new policies/guidelines etc

  • To assist the Trust in reducing healthcare associated infections and achieve Key performance indicators.
  • As part of our commitment to patients and delivery of a world class service for allwe have created the UHCW Improvement (UHCWi) System in partnership with the Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle; this involves a structured approach to removing waste and putting the patient first using a lean management system and methodologies. Our culture and ways of working reflect and embed the practices and methodologies of UHCWi. You are expected, where identified, to attend and complete relevant training and development opportunities to support this. Full attendance and completion of identified courses is considered essential and a prerequisite for this post.
  • To undertake any other duties as required in accordance with the grade and nature of the post.
