Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Therapy Technical Instructor to join the new and transformational One Coventry Integrated Team (OCIT) service. The trust along with Coventry City Council and Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust have designed and developed 3 Local Integrated Teams (LITs) across the city of Coventry which are supported by multi-professional teams offering a holistic and integrated approach to urgent community needs for the residents of Coventry.

Local integrated care is one of the Trust's fundamental purposes, as set out in our refreshed strategy for 2022-2030; 'More than a hospital'. The Trust has an ambition to deliver improvements in the health and wellbeing of our local populations through collaboration with partners across the health and social care system. The role of therapy and therapy support workers is key to the successful delivery of this exciting and transformational service aimed to improve the health and wellbeing of the Coventry population.

Main duties of the job

There is an ongoing requirement for travel with this post

The post holder will be required to have a full driving licence and car and to be insured for business use.

To work as a Technical Instructor within the One Coventry Integrated Team, as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

The post holder will provide reablement to adults in Coventry under the direction of a team of qualified therapists.

This includes working with and performing tasks delegated by qualified members of the team including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Assistant Practitioners.

To work flexibly to ensure appropriate service provision over weekends and bank holidays between 8am-4pm

To adhere to the lone worker policy.

Responsibility for Patients

To have knowledge and understanding of a range of medical, surgical and orthopaedic conditions. To deliver delegated therapeutic assessment or treatment according to the clients goals and complexity, with coworkers or as a lone worker. To regularly visit patients in their own homes and other community settings. To assist in moving and handling and therapeutic positioning of patients to provide assessment and intervention. This may include assisting the patient getting up and down off the floor, managing stairs and working in confined spaces. Under the direction of the qualified therapists, provide specific elements of a holistic treatment / rehabilitation programme to an assigned caseload of patients. To assist in meeting patients needs during therapy visits as required. This could include toileting, assisting with meeting nutritional requirements and other basic care needs. To identify and report any problems or concerns to the case manager and take appropriate, timely remedial action To foster the individuals dignity, equality, diversity, choice and rights, to include maintaining the confidentiality of their information at all times. To ensure appropriate consent is gained prior to therapeutic intervention. To have a knowledge and understanding of the scope of practice of the job role and to ensure that you are working within your current level of competency. To demonstrate knowledge and skills in the use and application of specific equipment to enable the training of others (including patients and carers) to a given competency. To provide spontaneous and planned advice and instruction to patients, relatives and carers to promote understanding of the aims of rehabilitation and the home programme, and to enable a consistent approach to clinical care. To demonstrate an understanding of the effect of disability and provide education and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the patients physical, social and work environment
