Job summary

A new and exciting post has recently been created to support the Quality Assurance and Control Services provided by the Pharmacy Department at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The postholder will assist the Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance Manager in providing technical support and guidance on pharmaceutical science to technical teams working in local aseptic and radiopharmacy production units and to the wider clinical teams within the Trust and external clients.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and conscientious individual who has keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic. The postholder must have a good knowledge and experience of laboratory techniques in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice standards.

This is a part-time post, working Monday to Friday, and would be ideal for someone with childcare or carer responsibilities, or someone who needs a degree of flexibility in their working pattern.

We are a large Acute Teaching Hospital of approximately 1300 beds. Our pharmacy department has an innovative approach to pharmaceutical care with a ward-based technician service and pharmacist led clinics. We have strong links with the Medical School at Warwick University and the department of Medicines Management at Keele University.

You will be based at University Hospital Coventry, a PFI hospital opened in 2006 which is situated just off the junction of the M6 and M69.

Main duties of the job

Working within the Quality Control team, the successful candidate will undertake a variety of chemical and microbiological analysis on a range of pharmaceutical products, as well environmental monitoring of specialist cleanroom facilities and clean air devices. In addition, the postholder will assist in a range of specialist quality assurance activities associated with the onsite manufacturing facilities, including investigations, audits, validations and training.

This role represents an excellent, but rare, opportunity for a suitable individual to develop their skills and experience within pharmaceutical sciences and quality assurance helping develop and drive the future of NHS pharmacy technical services within the West Midlands.

The full job description provides an overview of the key tasks and responsibilities of the role, and the person specification outlines the qualifications, skills, experience, and knowledge required.
