Job summary
The post holder will be joining our Performance & Informatics (P&I) department who are well respected and the largest of our corporate services. The P&I portfolio encompasses Business Intelligence & Informatics, Corporate Performance, Information Systems Development, Clinical Coding, Data Quality, Patient Access and Cancer Services.
P&I work cross functionally to support the Trusts operational delivery of both national and internal targets which ensures the highest standards of patient care are delivered. A robust Performance Management Framework is embedded across UHCW that tracks and evaluates progress and supports both operational and clinical governance frameworks.
New opportunities at a national level are being developed by P&I in areas of health inequality, waiting list management and system working. Most notably working innovatively to develop the 'Health Equity and the Right to Treatment' (HEARTT) tool which culminated in being awarded the 'Innovation and Improvement in Reducing Healthcare Inequalities Award' at the prestigious Health Service Journal Awards in 2022.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be joining P&I's Corporate Performance team and will be primarily responsible for the management, facilitation and completion of mandatory submissions to external partners. The post holder will also support the delivery of many internal reporting procedures to ensure the Trust's performance framework is delivered on time in full which supports operational delivery, service planning & management, performance and transformation. The individual will have experience and expertise at providing high level information analysis and establishing reporting routines and requirements to improve operational delivery and contribute to the development of the Trust's analytics provision.
The post holder will work in a matrix management structure and will work alongside a team of analysts to produce high quality analysis and business intelligence.

BI and Analytics:
- Manage, facilitate and complete regular and ad hoc reports to comply with mandatory external and internal submissions. Working to a defined schedule the reports will be accurate and completed in a timely manner
- To support the completion of Freedom of Information requests when requested
- Support the Trusts reporting routines in an accurate and timely manner, summarising complex data and information to the wider members of P&I
- Highlight discrepancies in data quality, completeness and/or interpretation of management information as appropriate
- Be proactive in the initiation of information analyses, providing analysis and advise on information for current/future programmes of work and service delivery
- Provide advice and specialist knowledge to define Trust wide and external information requirements and establishing appropriate reporting m
- Utilise experience, knowledge, judgement and skills to develop and improve information reporting systems in line with National data requirements and definitions. This will be achieved using a variety of reporting tools and a combination of advanced procedures in MS Excel, Access, SQL Server and Power BI
- Utilise appropriate skills and software to advise on and enable simulation, predictive analysis and scenario testing to inform decision making by performance and operational leads
- Liaise with members of the Department and the wider Organisation as appropriate to ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and milestones are developed to measure and monitor the progress of delivery
- Propose improvements to streamline existing process and systems to promote greater efficiency and effectiveness whilst ensuring processes are robust, efficient and well documented
- Utilise appropriate benchmarking tools for example Telstra Health and Model Hospital to identify and model areas of potential service improvement from analysis of peers
- Participate in local and national audits by ensuring data is sourced and available as required
- Take an active role in improving data quality. Be proactive in the solution of any inconsistencies and incompleteness of data that may occur, identifying the causes and design and implement any changes required, giving a solution to the problem
- Work with the Information System Development team to ensure that data sources are current and fit for the needs of Performance and Informatics department in terms of timeliness and accuracy and ensuring business continuity of reporting during system upgrades
- Ensures that Information Governance and Data Protection are adhered to in relation to the provision of information.
- Participate in Performance and Informatics and Trust meetings where required
- Provide cover across other P&I teams as/when required.
