Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for either an existing advanced practitioner radiographer performing fluoroscopy advanced practice or a keen and skilled radiographer willing to undertake post graduate training in this specialty area.

Relevant experience in fluoroscopy imaging, theatre and Interventional Radiology along with some experience in managing teams, equipment and coordinating fast paced services will be key for this post.

The post holder, in specified sessions, will also support the governance team within the Imaging department, having a special interest in the audit programme and development towards QSI accreditation.

Main duties of the job

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching Trusts responsible for managing two major hospitals in Coventry and Rugby, which between them serve a population of over one million people. We are the principal teaching hospital for Warwick Medical School and work in close co-operation and partnership to develop innovative programmes in clinical research. The radiology department provides a service on both the Coventry and Rugby sites.

We are looking for a dynamic individual keen to learn and progress within the role, developing fluoroscopy advanced practice alongside the radiology consultants and management team.

You will be expected tocarry out procedures/examinations and prepare independent clinical reports for completed examinations, in line with departmental protocols.

You will be required to be accountable for own professional actions and to act as a role model within the department, setting and maintaining high standards of professionalism and patient care and encouraging the development of a strong and flexible multi-disciplinary team.

Along with supporting the Fluoroscopy and Interventional unit team with the management of the service you will also be able to demonstrate clinical and process knowledge as senior support for the Governance team.

Job responsibilities

The main duties of the post includes evaluation of radiology requests, performing and reporting fluoroscopic examinations independently within their own scope of practice. The post holder will train to departmental protocols and to be accountable for their own professional actions including independent reporting.

Once fully trained the post holder will act as an autonomous practitioner to carry out a range of fluoroscopy examinations across all patient pathways to a consistently high standard and produce high quality, independent reports ensuring compliance with imaging protocols.

The advanced practitioner will produce and interpret high-quality images of the body to diagnose and confirm normality and abnormality, injuries, and diseases.

Teaching and supervision of radiographers, students and Radiology registrars will be key to the role. Support of the Lead radiographers for the day-to-day organisation of the fluoroscopy & interventional service in accordance with Trust/departmental protocols will be part of the leadership aspects of the job.

Responsibility for ensuring the annual Radiology audit programme is completed on schedule will be part of the governance aspect of the role, along with effective training of Non-medical referrers and the development and review of protocols.
