This is a fantastic opportunity for a Consultant to join our Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services (CWPS) as a Consultant Cellular Pathologist. The successful candidates will provide a diagnostic consultation and advisory service to clinical colleagues in the acute hospitals and primary care in Coventry and Warwickshire.
CWPS is a modern pathology network embracing the principles of Lord Carter's plan to modernise pathology services. The network has and continues to re-invest savings made through the reorganisation of services around a large hub site to improve the quality and extent of the services offered to patients.
These posts are based at UHCW, and the appointees will be required to deliver specialised reporting, attend mulit-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings and, where appropriate, clinicopathological conference (CPC) meetings. Some of these MDT and CPC meetings are delivered via video link.

Main duties of the job
The successful appointee will:
- Provide a diagnostic consultation and advisory service to clinical colleagues in the acute hospitals and primary care in Coventry and Warwickshire.
- Develop close collaborative links with clinicians working in their areas of specialist expertise, working to develop services provided to patients in these areas to the highest standards, including the adoption of best practice guidance, the development of diagnostic and treatment protocols and all other relevant guidelines.
- The appointees will be encouraged to support reporting of any systemic cytology associated with their sub speciality area(s) of interest. The post doesn't have a requirement for cervical screening cytology reporting.
- Interact with clinicians and allied health professionals (AHPs) to provide pathological support and leadership required for the delivery of excellent services.
- If they so choose, may be involved in the post-mortem service for the Coventry and Warwickshire Coroner, for which appropriate time will be allocated in their job plan.
- Encouraged to take part in research and, where possible, to support the development of digital pathology and the research objectives of UHCW and UoW Medical School.
- Participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities.
