Job summary

Are you a Physiotherapist with an interest in Acute Paediatrics? As a Paediatric Physiotherapist, your role is not just taking care of the patient, more so you will be nurturing the needs of the family providing a holistic approach to the care you provide.

Our Paediatric Physiotherapy Department provides a warm and welcoming environment that will give you the opportunity to use your physiotherapy skills in all areas of paediatric physiotherapy, including Respiratory, Neurology and Orthopaedics as a holistic therapist and to provide exceptional, family-centred care.

The successful candidate will work within an integrated team of Physiotherapists. We are looking for applicants who have developed skills and knowledge to assess and treat patients presenting with a variety of Paediatric conditions within an acute setting. Due to the high turnover of patients and varying complexity the applicant needs to be dynamic and adaptable. You should have experience and be able to evidence your involvement in all aspects of clinical governance.

The Paediatric Unit at UHCW consists of three age specific Wards allowing the children and their families to thrive amongst their peers whilst being nursed in an environment designed specifically with their needs in mind. The department also houses a Level 2 Critical Care Unit (HDU), a Paediatric Medical Day Unit and Surgical Day Unit as well as a large Paediatric specific Outpatient Department and Children's Emergency Department.

Main duties of the job

  • You should also have experience in staff and student supervision, training and appraisal. Previous involvement in service developments and audits would be advantageous.
  • Manage a caseload of patients with varying diagnosis and or /complex needs, using evidence based/ client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in a defined clinical area.
  • Ensure development of junior staff through supervision, training and annual appraisal.
  • Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical practice & service development within area.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust Physiotherapy service.
  • Take a lead for information management to ensure high quality data which is recorded, evaluated & reported in a timely manner.
