Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated and dynamic team lead to manage our Paediatric acute and community team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. Previous line management experience is essential, paediatric clinic experience is not.

Longer term, a willingness to learn and manage a small amount of clinical work would be desirable.

You will provide line management support to a team of six dietitians and a dietetic assistant based at University Hospital and Paybody Building, Coventry.

Main duties of the job

Provide line management for the Paediatric Team.

Support service development alongside three Band 7 Paediatric Service Leads and relevant MDTs

Work with senior colleagues across the Dietetic and Speech and Language Therapy Department on department initiatives such as job planning.

To work autonomously to provide specialist dietetic advice to patients, their carers and staff within agreed protocols and guidelines and with support from senior colleagues including:

  • Carry out nutritional assessments (interpretation of biochemistry,anthropometrics, clinical condition and diet history) to determine nutritional problem.
  • Development of treatment plans (calculation of nutritional requirements, Analysis of nutritional intakes sometimes using specialist IT systems, client centred goals and discharge planning including patients on artificial nutritional support).
  • Prescription of dietary treatment and ACBS products for conditionswhere there are limited professional / clinical guidelines available.
