Main duties of the job
An exciting secondment opportunity has become available for a Ambulance Offload Officer to join the well established team at University Hospital North Midlands / Stoke HUB.

The
post holder will be required to operate from Acute
Trust Hospital sites and are responsible for ensuring that crews are handing
over patients in a timely manner to ensure that we are maximising ambulance
availability to respond to patients in
the community.
The post holder will undertake vital
conversations with crews to ensure full utilisation of Call Before Convey (CBC)
and that all hospital conveyances are appropriate.
To develop new practices for effective
Ambulance turnaround by implementing changes to benefit ambulance turnarounds
at Hospitals, working in conjunction with the hospital leadership.
The post holder will also develop
relationships between Trusts and be responsible for the provision of
initiatives and reports in partnership with key stakeholders ensuring a
reduction in Ambulance turnaround delays
Applicants must be HCPC Registered Paramedics with a minimum of 24 months post qualification experience and must have completed NQP consolidation period and portfolio sign off (if applicable) evidence will be required prior to interview

To ensure ambulance
turnaround times at hospital are kept to a minimum to increase availability to
respond to our patients
Provide confidential reports and summaries relating to Ambulance delays
and handover times to West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) and Acute Trusts
upon request.
Undertake a range of operational
management responsibilities, ensuring all crews are following trust policies to
include but not exclusively:, driving standards, code of conduct and bare below
the elbow.
Develop plans, monitor work activities
and regularly assess the performance of ambulance hospital turnarounds and patient
flow to ensure performance indicators are achieved for the Ambulance Service.
Efficiently manage the allocation of cohorts
at crew end of shift.
Monitor and manage crew downtime at
hospital.
Maximise the availability of crews at
hospital, ensuring their availability in a timely manner.
Ensure regular escalation of any delay
in offload to acute site leads.
To act as a Hospital Ambulance Liaison
Officer (HALO) in the event of a Major Incident.
Supervise short- and medium-term
objectives.
Be a WMAS HCPC registered Paramedic in
order to be able to make and understand clinical decisions relating to patient
care regarding appropriate destinations for treatments and/or Alternative
Pathways.
To ensure the implementation of the
acute trusts escalation policy for all areas, ensuring adherence.
To partake in regular capacity meetings
with relevant colleagues from across the Acute Hospitals.
To develop close working relationships
between postholder and WMAS Strategic Capacity Cell Team to ensure thorough
effective use and cascading of information on Bed Status.
To actively take part in the Changing
of Culture within Acute Trusts and WMAS Trust with regards hospital
turnaround/patient flow policies and procedures highlighting and illustrating
where necessary benefits through efficacy.
To highlight to relevant operational
leadership team any concerns or queries from members of staff that may need a
Line Managers approach or further through training or education.
To monitor daily handover reports and
Sitreps to ensure compliance within the Turnaround instructions and to
contribute to currency of data through timely updates.
To develop close effective working
relationships with all applicable stakeholders.
Work with WMAS and acute trusts to
ensure crews are aware of Out of Hours service providers and alternative pathways
available to patients in the Acute Trust catchment area.
Work with WMAS and Acute Trusts, to
highlight and develop new pathways for Alternative Care.
Analyse data and information to
highlight deficiencies and failings in the provision and/or use of alternative care
pathways and develop new strategies to negate these failings and/or
deficiencies.
Support crews and educate on the use of
alternative services to avoid Hospital conveyance.
Facilitate debriefing of crews following
challenging cases.

Professional Development as required as part of general conditions of
