Job summary
We are looking for radiographers who are new to CT and looking to develop their career in CT. This role is a development role in which we would would look to help you develop your CT skills and on reaching competency move you to a specialist CT radiographer post. We would support your CT education while you upskill yourself. This role would be perfect for students looking to move directly in to CT direct from university or for radiographers who have little CT experience but are looking for a new direction in their career.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality radiographic service in any area of Derriford Hospital or outlying departments as required.
All staff will be expected to undertake examinations on both public and private sector patients, and participate in 7 day working rotas.
To provide excellent leadership to all non-medical staff working in Radiology
To support the effective delivery and operations of the ED, Main X-Ray and CT Department
To work autonomously to carry out diagnostic radiography and specialised procedures within the CT department
To adhere to the current radiation legislation and working safely within the health and safety regulations.
To participate in the out of hours shift system for the CT department
To work within the radiology team to deliver the optimum care to the patient whilst producing optimum quality diagnostic images.
To provide guidance and support to junior members of staff & students.
Dynamic involvement within Band 6 specialist radiographers band 7 training and operational leads and band 8a principal radiographer

Develop specialist CT radiography skills and commit to providing a service to the CT department.
To be able to undertake all basic CT techniques and modify those techniques when and where appropriate, taking into account the patients condition.

To comply with Trust policies for Infection Control, ensuring safe treatment of all patients and to reduce the risk of hospital acquired infection.
To be flexible in respect to working arrangements including supporting the out of hours service, to ensure the needs of the service are met.
To engender a culture of lifelong learning to support undergraduate students during clinical placements.
To adhere to all departmental policies and to be able to comment on their relevance to current working practice and be proactive in the development of working practice.
