We are looking for an Assistant Technical Officer to work in our small stock control team. Full training will be given in all aspects of stock control within an aseptic unit. We are currently completing a business case to enable us to relocate to a state of the art new aseptic unit facility.

Please note that sponsorship is not available for this position.

The post holder will be expected to participate in weekend, late duty & bank holiday rotas. Core hours are 37.5 per week within the hours of 7am - 8pm. Part time hours will be considered.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for topping up stock, maintaining stock rotation and managing the returns/delayed patient database ensuring that the use of outsourced preparations is maximised. You will also be responsible for completing general house-keeping activities within the Production Services Unit. You will follow quality guidelines to ensure patients receive products that are safe to use .The ideal candidate will have a good general education. If not already held, you will complete the Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff - BTEC Level 2: Unit 6-Managing Pharmaceutical Stock (in-house training is provided). A willingness to respond flexibly to the needs of the Pharmacy and the Trust is essential.

2. To be responsible for allocating stock to colleagues from the closed store areas to maintain effective stock control.

3. To carry out routine stock checks, stock rotation and expiry date stock checks.

4. To manage the returns/delayed patient database ensuring that bags which have been allocated have been used.

5. To return named patient outsourced bags back into stock to enable reuse.

6. To book out outsourced stock following the invoice process.

7. To record savings and wastage data for outsourced chemotherapy and produce a monthly report for the Production Services Manager.

8. To obtain and review certificates of analysis for aseptically procured products to ensure GMP requirements are met.

9. To approve for use or otherwise raw materials, containers and components.

10. To prepare the first draft of standard operating procedures relating to stock control.
