Job summary
Thrushel Short Stay Ward is a fast-paced acute medical unit at Derriford Hospital, providing assessment, treatment and short-term care for adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions. The ward focuses on rapid clinical assessment, early intervention and timely discharge, supporting patient flow through the hospital and improving patient experience.
The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering safe, effective and compassionate care in line with Trust values and clinical standards. The role requires excellent communication, organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic environment with high patient turnover. The post holder will contribute to patient assessment, care delivery, discharge planning and service improvement initiatives, ensuring high standards of care and a positive patient experience.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job

Deliver high-quality, person-centred care to patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.

Support assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans.

Undertake and record routine clinical observations and measurements, escalating concerns appropriately.
